How to Install Android M Preview on Nexus 5!

Android M Preview is out for the Nexus 5! Android M Preview brings a lot of enhancements that Lollipop lacks in like the ability to control app permissions, extreme battery saver mode, and even the option to backup app data! Android M Preview just about fixes everything that was lacking in Lollipop, just like what happened with KitKat and JellyBean. Luckily for people like us who want to try out the latest Android version, Google has released Android M Preview that allows us to experience Android M!

Remember, Android M Preview is a PREVIEW build. It is not an official build. Do not use Android M Preview as a daily driver until you have tested it in a controlled environment. I have been using Android M for the past few hours and it is pretty stable, but your experience may differ!

Note: This will wipe your phone, backup any important information before continuing!!

Follow the guide below to install Android M Preview on Nexus 5!

1. Power off the Nexus 5 then press and hold the power button and volume down button at the same time.

2. You should now see a green "Start" on the screen.

3. Plug in your phone to your computer via microUSB.

4. Download Nexus5AndroidMPreview.zip using download link below.

5. Unzip Nexus5AndroidMPreview.zip and move the unzipped folder to the desktop!

Skip step 6 if your bootloader is already unlocked!
6. Open up Command Prompt if your on Windows or Terminal if your on Mac/Linux/Ubuntu.

Type in the following commands in to Command Prompt/Terminal. Press enter after each new line. 

Windows: 
cd Desktop
cd Nexus5AndroidMPreview
fastboot oem unlock

Mac:
cd Desktop
cd Nexus5AndroidMPreview
./fastboot-mac oem unlock

Linux/Ubuntu:
cd Desktop
cd Nexus5AndroidMPreview
./fastboot-linux oem unlock

7. Open a new window of Command Prompt if your on Windows or a new window of Terminal if your on Mac/Linux/Ubuntu. 

Type in the follow commands and press enter after each line:

fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-hammerhead-HHZ12h.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-M8974A-2.0.50.2.26.img

8. Your Nexus 5 will now reboot into Android M Preview, this can take up to 10 minutes since we just flashed a whole new OS on our Nexus 5. Be patient!

9. Once the phone has completely booted up your done! You are now officially on Android M Preview for the Nexus 5. Enjoy being on the bleeding edge of Android!

FAQ: 
Q: After step 8 and waiting for 10 minutes I am still stuck on the boot up logo.
A: Enter into bootloader mode (step 2) > Recovery mode > do a factory reset > reboot your phone.

Q: Will my Nexus 5 on Android M Preview be getting OTA updates?
A: Actually yes, Google will be pushing out monthly OTA updates until Android M is officially released.

How to Install Android M Preview on Nexus 6!

Android M Preview is out for the Nexus 6 and that means flashing Android M onto our own Nexus 6 ASAP! Android M brought a large amount of changes including the app drawer, app permissions, even enhanced the volume control settings! Android M is intended for developers so that they can start building apps and other Android related software before Android M is officially released to the public. 

Android M Preview is a PREVIEW! Try out Android M Preview at home and make sure everything you need is properly working before considering using this as a daily driver! 
Note: This will wipe everything from your phone, backup any important information! 

Follow the guide below to install Android M Preview on Nexus 6!

1. Power off the Nexus 6.

2. Press and hold the power button and volume down at the same time until you see a green "Start" on the screen.

3. Now plug in your phone via microUSB to your computer.

4. Download Nexus6AndroidMPreview.zip using the download link below.

5. Unzip Nexus6AndroidMPreview.zip. You should now have a folder called, Nexus6AndroidMPreview.

6. Move the folder, Nexus6AndroidMPreview, to your desktop!!

7. Open Command Prompt if your on Windows or Terminal if your on Mac/Linux/Ubuntu.

Note: If your Nexus 6 bootloader is unlocked skip to step 8!

Type in these commands and press enter after each line:

Q: Can I use Android M Preview as a daily driver?
A: Android M Preview is intended to be a preview, not a daily driver. The choice is yours. 

Q: Command Prompt says no device is connected/detected.
A: Open up Device Manager, find something similar to "Android ADB" and reinstall the drivers. Also change USB cable and USB port.

How to Install Custom ROMS on Nexus 6!

You just rooted your Nexus 6 and you're ready to explore a whole new world with Android by installing custom ROMS on your Nexus 6! This process may seem a little bit intimidating, but don't worry just follow the simple step-by-step guide below and you will become a custom ROM flashing expert in no time! 

What Is A Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a modified version of Android with enhancements the developer of the ROM has made to improve the device. You may have heard of CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android ROMS that pack a TON of extra features. These features can consists of many things including removed bloatware, added extra features, themes, better battery life, improved device performance, anything! 

Custom ROMS also let you upgrade to the latest version of Android even if it hasn't officially been released by the OEM. If you want to always want to be on the bleeding edge of Android software then installing customs ROMS in a must!

Things To Remember:
- You need to have a rooted Nexus 6 with TWRP/CWM Recovery installed, if you don't follow this guide: how to root Nexus 6.
- This will remove all data from your phone since we will need to do a factory reset before installing a new custom ROM! Backup any important information!
- You can only install custom ROMS that are specifically for the Nexus 6!!

Let's Get Started With Installing Custom ROMS On The Nexus 6

Don't forget, you need to have a rooted Nexus 6 with TWRP or CWM Recovery installed.

In this guide we're going to be using TWRP custom Recovery, but CWM is very similar in steps. 

1. Download and transfer the custom ROM to your Nexus 6.

2. If the source from where the ROM was downloaded tells you to download Gapps (Google apps like Play Store, Gmail, etc) download and transfer the Gapps to your phone too.

Both the custom ROM and Gapps will end in a .zip file format, don't unzip it!

3. Now let's enter into Recovery Mode! Power off the Nexus 6 then press and hold the power button and volume down button until you see a green "Start" screen.

4. Keep pressing the volume down until you see "Recovery mode". Now press the power button. You will now enter into TWRP or CWM Recovery.

Step 5 is optional, but highly recommended!! 
5. Select "Backup", make sure that "System", "Data", and "Boot" are selected then swipe at the bottom of the screen to start the backup. This is called a "Nandroid Backup", it will backup just about everything on your Nexus 6. This backup file will be located in "/TWRP/BACKUPS" folder. 

You can reboot your phone and transfer that backup file to your computer so if something goes wrong during the custom ROM flash you can select "Restore" in TWRP and all your information will be restored.

6. On the TWRP homescreen select "Wipe" and swipe at the bottom of the screen.

7. Now select "Install" and locate the custom ROM you downloaded earlier. Swipe to confirm install.

8. Repeat step 7 except do it with Gapps if your ROM required you to flash Gapps too.

9. Now select "Reboot System" and the Nexus 6 will fully boot up to the new custom ROM. This boot up can take up to 5 minutes since we wiped the Nexus 6 and installed a brand new OS on our phone!

How to Install a Custom ROM on Galaxy S5!

This is a step-by-step guide on how to install custom ROMS on the Galaxy S5. You can install a wide variety of ROMS ranging from AOSP ROMS like CyanogenMod and Paranoid Android all the way to lag free Touchwiz custom ROMS. 

Note: This will remove everything from your internal storage backup anything and everything! Also I highly recommend you always perform a Nandroid Backup before you install a custom ROM!

You must have a rooted Galaxy S5, if you aren't follow this guide.

T-Mobile/Canadian users! You can also use the international SM-G900F Galaxy S5 variants ROM too!

Places to download custom ROMS for the Galaxy S5. Just select "Android Development" or "Original Android Development" below. 
Samsung Galaxy S5 International (Europe, Asia, etc)
Samsung Galaxy S5 T-Mobile/Canadian
Samsung Galaxy S5 Sprint

Remember to always read the developer's directions before flashing a custom ROM. 

1. Download a custom ROM directly to your phone or to your computer and then transfer it to your phone. I'm going to use "Allusion" ROM as my example. 

2. Enter your phone in Recovery Mode. Power off your phone. Press and hold the volume up, home button, and power button. 

3. Select "Wipe data/factory reset" and then "Yes". NOTE: This will delete information off your phone including apps, call logs, settings, messages, etc. 

4. Then choose "Wipe cache partition".  

5. After that go into "Advanced". 

6. Then select "Wipe dalvik cache". After that select "+++++Go Back+++++". 

7. Choose "Install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard".

8. Locate the ROM you download/transferred on your phone in step 1 and select it then choose "Yes". 

9. Once complete choose "+++++Go Back+++++" > "Reboot now". 

Wait for about 5 minutes for your phone to reboot and you are now on a custom ROM! Enjoy flashing TONS of ROMS, BUT BE CAREFUL!

Q: After flashing a custom ROM I'm stuck on the boot loop, what do I do?

A: Preform steps 3-6 again. 

Q: What is Gapps?

A: Gapps stands for Google Apps, some ROMS require you to install this package after the custom ROM to get Gmail, Play Store, Hangout, ect. Mainly all AOSP (pure Android) based ROMS require you install this after the ROM.

This guide will show you how to install TWRP Recovery on your rooted Galaxy S5. If you're not rooted follow this guide.

This guide is especially useful for anyone who used Chainfire's CF-Auto Root to root their device, but want to install a custom recovery or anyone who has ClockworkMod/Philz installed, but prefers using TWRP Recovery instead.

Follow the step-by-step guide below to install the latest version of TWRP Recovery on the Galaxy S5 without a computer! 

1. Download GooManager app using the link below.
Download GooManager from the Play Store
2. Open up GooManager and grant SuperUser request, by selecting "yes".

3. Tap on the options in the top right corner of the app and select "Install OpenRecoveryScript".

4. Choose "Yes" then "Yes" again after you checked the filerecovery. It should be similar to "XXXX-klte.img".

5. It will go to a download screen and automatically download TWRP.

6. After that you will get a message letting you know that the recovery has been successfully installed.

To enter into TWRP just select "Reboot recovery" within the GooManager app.

How to Install/Unroot T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat! SM-N900T

Here is a step-by-step guide to show you how to completely unroot or install Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900T. This guide will remove any previous information that you have on your internal storage and restore it like the day your first bought your Galaxy Note 3. 

In this guide we will be using Odin, a software to loading Android 4.4.2 KitKat on the Galaxy Note 3 and the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software. It will only take about 15 minutes to completely finish this guide. Follow the directions below to install/unroot T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900T to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

NOTE: This will delete everything on your phone! Back it up!

1. Enter your phone into "Download Mode". Make sure your phone is unplugged and turned off. Hold the volume down, home center, and power button at the same time. When you feel a vibration let go of the power, but keep holding onto the volume down and home button.

2. Press the volume up to continue and plug in your phone via microUSB.

3. Download Odin3v185.zip and TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip using the links below.

Download Odin3v185.zip
Download TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip

4. Unzip and open Odin3 v1.85. In Odin you should see a yellow highlighted box on the left of the program. If you don't, download and install Samsung USB drivers.

5. Unzip TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip. Then in Odin click on "PDA" and locate/select N900TUVUCNB4_N900TTMBCNB4_N900TUVUCNB4_HOME.tar.md5. 

6. Click on "Start". This part will take about 10 minutes. 

7. Once complete your phone will automatically reboot and you will be on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Q: Odin showed "Pass" on the box and my phone rebooted, but it's stuck on the boot up logo.
