How to Root Galaxy S4! [ALL Qualcomm Models] [Mac/Linux/Ubuntu]

In this guide we are going to be using the motochopper tool to root our Galaxy S4 on Mac & Linux/Ubuntu.

This root method will work on all Qualcomm-based Galaxy S4 like the AT&T SGH-i337, Sprint SPH-L720, T-Mobile SGH-M919, US Cellular SCH-R970, Canadian SGH-i337M, Rogers, Bell, Telus, and other Qualcomm S4s.

To root Qualcomm Galaxy S4 on Windows check out this guide, here.

1. Go into "Settings" > "More" > "About device" > tap on "Build number" for about 10 times until you get a pop up saying "You are now a developer". Go back and go into "Developer options" and turn on "USB debugging".

2. Plug in your phone via microUSB and the other side to the USB port of your Mac OSX/Linux/Ubuntu computer.

3. Download motochopper file using the link below and move it to your desktop!

4. Open Terminal and type these commands:
Note: Make sure your Mac OSX/Linux computer has a password before typing in these commands!

cd Desktop
cd motochopper
chmod 755 *
sudo sh run.sh

5. Once the script has started press enter to root your phone and allow USB debugging on your phone.

6. When the process has finished press enter again to reboot your phone.

7. Once your phone has finished rebooting go into your app drawer you should have the SuperUser app. You can now install and use root apps!

To confirm your phone is rooted install an app like Titanium Backup and see if you get SuperUser request.

In this guide we are going to be using the motochopper tool to root our Galaxy S4.

Today we're taking a look at Axis ROM for Galaxy S3 AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, U.S Cellular, and Metro PCS. This ROM comes packed with a good amount of goodies for your Android phone!

Some of my favorite parts of this ROM is the themed icons, white themed toggles, Galaxy S4 weather widget, and Galaxy S4 S-Voice.

The most notable feature that I find really cool is the amount of lockscreens you can put on your Galaxy S3! You have the option to put XperiaZ, Sense 5, Blackberry, Galaxy S3, and many other types of unlock lockscreens looks to your phone!

CyanogenMod has just recently released the latest "M snapshot" The latest version is M3 for the Nexus 4. With the latest M version you get more stability than the nightlies and more features that can be used on a daily basis.

CyanogenMod has always been a very popular ROM for many devices because of the features they offer and the way they keep a "pure Android experience".

With the latest build you get options for your homescreen like grid size, amount of pages for your dock and homescreen, lockscreen targets, and navbar targets too!

You also get CyanogenMod's wallpaper collection, homescreen transitions unlimited widgets on lockscreen, and any widget on the lockscreen.

SmartLife App Review for Android!

SmartLife app for Android makes your Android device much easier to use. It is a bit difficult to explain how this app helps you on a daily basis, but the video does a great demonstration, located above!

Once you do a certain thing then your phone will do a certain action. For example, I can set a command into the app telling the phone to launch the music app when I plug in my headphones.

I can do another command using the app so whenever I turn off my phone's screen my WiFi will turn off automatically.

This app is VERY simple to use and will save you a lot of time for when you turn on your phone's screen your weather pops up. When your battery percentage reaches a certain level then your data is automatically turned off.

Now keep in mind some of these options didn't work on my Nexus 4. This could have been because of my Android version the current ROM I was running on, or just my phone, but many of these commands should work for majority of the Android phones.

Network Speed app is a very simple app that monitors your network for both WiFi and data (4G/3G/2G). You simply launch the application with your WiFi or data turned on and you can monitor your usage within the app or in the status bar.

The main use of this app is to see if your internet "hangs". With my current ISP my internet goes out at least once a week when i'm using it. Using this application I can confirm that it's my ISP and not my phone.

I can also monitor the length of my internet "hanging" and notice if it's around the same time every week or just random. This application is a very basic, but can be very useful if your in my situation or just wondering the live usage of internet your phone is consuming.

Today we're taking a look at Snapdragon BatteryGuru for your Android device! This isn't your typical battery saving app. With Snapdragon's app it will actively learn how you use your applications that connect to the internet like Gmail, Twitter, Google Play Music, ect.

After that it will stay in learning mode for a couple of days to a couple weeks depending on your internet pattern. Once it's out of learning mode and it learns your pattern when you use your "internet applications" it will predict it for you.

This app is actively monitoring your use of applications and memerizes when your going to check Gmail or Facebook. So next time it will automatically refresh your Gmail and Facebook and turn off the WiFi/data after using it.

It will also use GPS location so you don't leave your WiFi on when there aren't any hotspots around. For example it will only turn your WiFi on when your at home and work, not while driving.

On this Android app of the week, we take a look at Vybe. Vybe is an application that allows you to make your own vibration feedback. Yes, you can litteraly make the vibration feedback as crazy as you want!

Once you finished the vibration recording you can apply it to all your phone calls, all your text messages (SMS), or you can go into your contact via the Vybe app and select a certain person or a group of people for your vibration pattern.

This app is very easy to use and even comes with a quick tutorial at the initial launch of the app just in case you need it. Best of all Vybe is completely free!
